Calendar of Special Ceremonies
Throughout the Church calendar year, special ceremonies help all, young and old, to understand the events of the life of Christ.
- Advent: Special Advent candles are lit each Sunday, and music and sermons help us to prepare for a spiritual Christmas season. Wednesday evening services include music such as the Holden Evening Prayer or traditional vespers.
- Lucia Fest crowning ceremonies are held at Bethany Church, traditionally the second Saturday in December
- Julotta: This is a traditional Swedish early morning Christmas service, with jubilant music from the belfry.
- Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday center around 4 PM and 7 PM services.
- Lenten services are held on Wednesday evenings, generally following a soup supper.
- Good Friday in remembered with a community service and Bach's Passion according to St. Matthew.
- Palm Sunday and Easter morning services always include special music for visitors come to town for the Bethany Oratorio performance of Handel's Messiah
- Baccalaurate for the Smoky Valley High School graduating class is held in Bethany Church each May.
