Bethany Lutheran Church
Thank you for the warm welcome I have received from Bethany Church! It is such a great feeling to be back in Lindsborg!
In anticipation of the work I'll be doing this summer in Pastor Humphrey's absence, I've been working two days a week with Pastor Humphrey, Brenda Berggren, and the rest of the staff, to become familiar with the way Bethany Church functions. I'm learning a lot! And that includes getting to know many of you better, as well! It's a privilege to be here!
As many of you know, Lindsborg has a special place in my heart. My maternal grandparents were Dr. P.D. ("Doc") and Weltha Langerman, and my paternal grandparents, Luther and Florence Oborg. My parents Floyd Oborg and Diana Oborg grew up in this area. I have lived in this area for all but three years of my life. I am a graduate of Bethany College. My husband Dale has lived his whole life in the McPherson area, and is a farmer, retailer, and an owner/operator in the oil industry. We live on a farm about half way between Lindsborg and McPherson. We have two daughters: Karin, who is married and lives in McPherson with her husband Jay Krehbiel and two little sons, Jacob (7) and Dylan (6 weeks), and Leslie, who lives in Dallas, TX.
I am very excited about working with all of you! And I ask for your prayers! This is a new experience for me, and one about which I am very pleased! I know that I need to be deeply and firmly centered in Christ, in word and sacrament, so that, working with you, I can do my part to fulfill Bethany's proposed mission statement: Building on the Past, Confident in the Future, We Make Christ Known!
